Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software’s cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, with the implementation intended to cover both domestic and international cargo operations.
IBS Software said the deployment will extend iCargo’s capabilities across PAL’s cargo business and support the airline’s modernisation programme. The platform will handle operational requirements that differ between domestic and international shipments, including customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement, and regulatory compliance.
According to IBS Software, iCargo is already used by carriers that manage a similar combination of domestic and international demands, giving the platform flexibility and scale for both types of operations.
PAL expects the transition to address system performance and data analytics requirements. iCargo is intended to provide faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility while reducing manual intervention and supporting more efficient processes.
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, said the initiative was an important step in modernising the carrier’s cargo operations. As PAL grows across its domestic and international network, he said, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and helps deliver a better customer experience. Siy described iCargo as a key enabler of the airline’s long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
The disclosed details focus on the platform’s functional scope and the operational improvements PAL aims to achieve through the transition.
