ELEGOO has introduced the M1 Ultra, its first all-in-one smart 3D scanner, taking the Chinese 3D printing brand into a new product category. The scanner went on sale on October 29, 2026, at a standard retail price of USD 1,699, with an early-bird price of USD 1,599 available through November 12. ELEGOO is positioning the device for professional work in customization, reverse engineering, education, digital archiving and other creative projects.
In the announcement, co-founder and vice president Kevin Wang said the M1 Ultra is intended to bring precision, versatility and workflow efficiency into one integrated system. He described the launch as part of ELEGOO’s effort to broaden its 3D creation ecosystem and connect physical objects with digital workflows. These are company claims about the product’s positioning, not independently verified test results.
Accuracy and capture
ELEGOO says the M1 Ultra reaches blue-laser scanning accuracy of up to 0.02 mm and volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm plus 0.06 mm per meter. The company calls this level of precision metrology-grade. To support consistent results, the scanner uses an all-glass optical system, intelligent temperature compensation and high-precision camera calibration. Global-shutter cameras are included to reduce motion blur and distortion during capture.
The device records color as well as geometry, using 24-bit full-color texture mapping with image signal processing optimization. That combination is intended to help users capture an object’s shape and visual appearance for later digital use.
Five scanning modes
The M1 Ultra offers five scanning modes for different object sizes and surface conditions. A 34-line blue laser mode is aimed at medium-to-large objects, while a 7-line blue laser mode is designed for fine details on small-to-medium parts. A single-line blue laser mode targets deep holes, narrow gaps and other difficult-to-reach areas.
An infrared structured-light mode covers face, body and object scanning. A fifth, marker-free blue laser mode provides an option for surfaces where applying markers is impractical. ELEGOO says the scanner can handle objects from 5 × 5 × 5 mm³ up to 4,000 × 4,000 × 4,000 mm³ and can scan black and metallic surfaces without coating powder, which the company says adds flexibility across materials and environments.
Portable hardware and software
The scanner is designed for use in different settings. A 3-inch HD touchscreen allows operation on the device, and Wi-Fi 6 supports wireless scanning. Its 4,800 mAh swappable battery provides up to 1.5 hours of wireless scanning, according to ELEGOO. The handheld body is described as lightweight and ergonomic for transport between workspaces.
ELEGOO SCAN software handles the workflow from data capture to a usable 3D model. Guided setup, tracking assistance and multi-scan alignment are intended to simplify scanning, while automated one-click processing handles mesh wrapping, mesh optimization and color mapping. The software exports in STL, OBJ, PLY and ASC formats for compatible third-party programs, which ELEGOO says helps move scans into design, modeling and manufacturing workflows.
Broader consumer 3D workflow
The M1 Ultra extends ELEGOO’s product range from printing into scanning. Other consumer 3D printing brands are pursuing similar expansion. At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Creality introduced a lineup spanning multicolor printing, filament recycling, resin printing, 3D scanning, laser processing and 3D printed footwear. That lineup included the Pika 3D scanner, which uses a seven-line blue laser and near-infrared scanning in a 260 g body, with accuracy to 0.03 mm and scan speeds up to 110 fps.
Revopoint’s Trackit SR wireless 3D scanner continues a strategy of offering marker-free optical tracking metrology at lower price points than the industrial systems historically associated with the category. It has single-frame accuracy of 0.02 mm and three scanning modes, including a Deep Hole Mode that uses a single blue laser line. 3DMakerpro has focused on ease of use with the Toucan all-in-one scanner, which lets users scan, edit and fuse complete 3D models without a computer.
ELEGOO’s standard prices are USD 1,699, EUR 1,699, GBP 1,399, CAD 2,399 and JPY 299,999. The early-bird prices through November 12 are USD 1,599, EUR 1,599, GBP 1,319, CAD 2,299 and JPY 284,999. As consumer brands add scanning to their portfolios, capturing objects is becoming part of the same workflow as making them, and ELEGOO is now competing in both areas.
