BP Pulse has joined ChargeHub's Passport Hub roaming platform, adding more than 850 charging points across over 95 locations to the North American roaming network, the two companies announced.
The integration allows EV drivers to find, access and pay for charging at BP Pulse sites through the ChargeHub app. The chargers will also be reachable by users of other e-mobility service providers and automakers that are connected to Passport Hub, extending the sites beyond ChargeHub's own customer base.
The announcement did not specify how many of the 850-plus points are rapid or ultra-rapid chargers, nor whether all of them are available through every Passport Hub partner. The figures given cover charging points and locations only.
Passport Hub is ChargeHub's roaming platform, which links charging networks with mobility service providers and vehicle manufacturers. It is designed to simplify public charging access by letting drivers use apps and services they already have across multiple networks, rather than registering separately with each charge point operator. For BP Pulse, the agreement widens the reach of its North American network by opening its infrastructure to a broader set of third-party platforms; for ChargeHub, it adds another network to its roaming ecosystem.
Sujay Sharma, BP Pulse's VP of EV charging for the US, said the partnership expands access to the BP Pulse network through trusted roaming partners, and that charging networks working better together benefits the wider EV ecosystem and is an important step toward accelerating EV adoption. Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, said that a network such as BP Pulse choosing to connect through Passport Hub is a strong signal that the hub model has become the way roaming is done in North America, and that because it is a hub, the effect extends beyond the ChargeHub app to the service providers and automakers in the ecosystem.
